Today, I bought a 2nd cactus from the flower shop at Library Square. The shopkeeper laughed at the 1st: "it looks like an alien," she said. In truth, it resembles a phallus with antennae. The shopkeeper laughed again when I hauled my 2nd selection to the counter: "it looks like a human brain," she said. Viewing the reaction of passersby as I walked home, parading my awkward purchase, I realize that my taste in plants can be compared to those dog owners who choose breeds like the 'Chinese Crested' (http://ow.ly/5LnCs). Shame.
